The Summers Hotel + The Subway Lounge collaboration series with the one and only Jimmy King is now available exclusively at SWELL-O-PHONIC &shopswellophonic.com.

Four shirt and 2 embroidered hat designs kick off the series along with coffee cups and buttons. We have been wanting to offer this series for at least 15 years now and finally connected with Jimmy. He graced us with his blessing to keep these 2 historical Jackson landmarks alive with this limited run of quality merch.

The Summers Hotel was located in Jackson and was the city's first black-owned hotel. W. J. Summers established it in 1944 and many black musicians lodged there during the era of segregation. The Subway Lounge was opened in the basement in 1966. The Subway was a jazz venue that offered popular late-night blues shows from the mid-1980s until the hotel's demolition in 2004.

The Subway Lounge was featured in the 2003 documentary film, Last of the Mississippi Jukesand has a marker as part of the Mississippi Blues Trail.
